Traditionally it is made in West Africa by tribeswomen in Ghana from special secret recipes. African Black Soap can be used for various skin conditions including acne breakouts, flakiness, hyper-pigmentation and more. This soap is also great as a body care and hair care product. However, If you are caffeine-sensitive, test the soap on the inside of your arm FIRST because it’s derived from cacao pods, which contain caffeine and can be absorbed through the skin. Also, if you are extremely latex-sensitive, shea butter contains small amounts of naturally occurring latex/protein. Suggested use is dependent on skin type. Use 2-3 times a week for dry sensitive skin. You can use more frequently if you have oily skin. Always moisturize skin after each use. Pour/pump small amount of soap into hands, lather then wash your face in a circular motion for 10-20 seconds or less (depending on the level of skin sensitivity), avoiding the skin on the eyelids. Rinse off with cool water. Follow with a good moisturizer (We recommend the Rejuvenating Facial Serum), but a moisturizer suited for your skin type is best. (may need to combine rejuvenating serum with a hydrating lotion, serum, etc. Everyone's skin is different) The key to avoid or reduce any unpleasant effects: do not leave the soap on your face for a long period of time. Do not overuse. If you've never used ABS It can dry out sensitive skin, so start by using it once every 1-2 days. If you're used to using black soap, you can use it as often as necessary to clean your skin. Always follow up with a moisturizer or hydrating serum after you use it to keep your skin from drying out.
