Leonetto Cappiello was an Italian-born French poster artist, who was one of the most influential and innovative commercial artists of the early 20th century. He was born in Italy in 1875, and moved to France in the 1890s. He began his career as a cartoonist and illustrator, but soon moved on to creating posters. He was one of the leading practitioners of the Art Nouveau style, and his early works are characterized by their bold lines, bright colors, and dynamic compositions. He is considered as the father of modern advertising poster art. He is known for his iconic posters such as 'Absinthe Robette', 'Cinzano' and 'Campari'. He created over a 1000 posters in his career, a vast majority of which are considered as masterpieces. His works are highly valued by art collectors and enthusiasts and are considered as the symbol of the golden age of the poster art.
