Izu Matcha - Milled Green Tea
Luxury Tencha and Gyokuro blended with Western Kenyan tea and stone ground into this premium matcha. It has a light astringent finish. Gyokuro leaves are shaded for 3 weeks before plucking. Shading forces the plants to produce higher than normal chlorophyll levels, giving the leaves a rich green color. Once plucked, the leaves are steamed and dried. Next, they are stripped of all stems and veins, resulting in a pure leaf that is stone-ground into the smooth powder matcha lovers are familiar with.Fun health facts: The high altitude Western Kenyan tea is added to the traditional Japan Izu to significantly boost the antioxidant level without altering the flavory green character and emerald appearance. 2 cups of our brewed matcha contains 7x the antioxidants of orange juice, 20x that of apple juice, and nearly 20g of calcium.
