FINE Antique clapboard gauge, Nesters Patent 1867 Clapboard Gauge-Offered is an antique clapboard gauge marked "Nesters Patent, December 31st, 1867" Has rosewood body with brass trim Measures 12" long Top section has a level with good vial One end has brass thumb screw that adjusts brass foot between 1-9" along inscribed brass rule with a scribe point on other end Also has 1-12" inscribed rule One side is brass plated with adjustable brass slitter An impressive, patented tool in "as found" uncleaned condition 100% complete and in working order Good bubble Only minor wear to the wood This is quite a complicated old adjustable gauge Nester's patent 1867 clearly marked in brass with cute little level that works just as it should Wood body appears to be rosewood with two brass adjustable knobs The little knob on end adjusts up & the arm that is used to measure The other larger brass knob just slides back & forth end to end apparently to scribe a measured clapboard NOTE: I am working with UK Patent Office to get more information CONDITIONVery Good  Wood minor scratches and “E.G” embossed in No other issues noted See all pictures Please contact us with any questions! 5
