Book Condition: Near Fine, signature of previous owner in pen. 106pp.  Amiri Baraka, previously LeRoi Jones, enjoyed a prolific career, with poems, essays, novels, dramas, and criticisms which have solidified the American as one of the most accomplished writers of a generation which flipped conversations of racism and black liberation on their heads. The Sidney Poet Heroical is one of Baraka's less oft-performed plays, primarily due to the hostile anti-communist political climate of the American 70s, but offers a glimpse into the years which the writer distanced himself from Black Nationalist movements and towards to the global Maoist or Marxist liberation movements.
