Grimgrom spent most of his life underground, never seeing the light of day, wondering when an igniting gas pocket would finally put him out of his misery. It didn’t happen; something far worse did. The mine his family had worked for generations was exhausted. Every worthwhile seam of ore had been extracted and they faced starvation. As the rest of his family moved to caverns new, in the hope of striking it lucky, Grimgrom took the opportunity to find a different, more appealing, line of work. His physical strength, experience in construction, practical knowledge of mining techniques and toughness soon saw him find a new life as an in-demand mercenary.
