General Gingerbread Cookie Recipe Piernicki (Pierniczki), are Polish Gingerbread cookies. In Germany, they are called Lebkuchen or Pfefferkuchen. In English, they are called Gingerbread Cookies. What sets these cookies apart is the addition of chocolate to the gingerbread mix, creating a distinct and rich flavor. Inspired by this, we crafted a spice blend that merges the warm, spiced notes of gingerbread with the unique touch of cocoa powder.  Here in America, our founding father, George Washington played a part in the gingerbread story. His mother, Mary Ball Washington, is said to have served her gingerbread to the French General Marquis de Lafayette. Her famous recipe came to be known as Lafayette Gingerbread. Boston Spice combined the best of both worlds together to create our General Gingerbread spice.
