In 1930, a chef named "Joe" topped his loose meat sandwiches with tomato sauce and served them on a bun. Some would argue that the sandwich was actually made at Sloppy Joe's Bar in Key West, Florida. Another group believes the sandwich originated in Havana, at Sloppy Joe's Saloon.It's a great American favorite no matter which side of the bun you're sitting on.
