2023 Sobon Estate Viognier
Producer: Sobon Estate Region: Amador County, Sierra Foothills, California Varietal: Viognier Year: 2023 Gold Medal Winner - 2024 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Winemaker Notes: "This alluring wine comes from our hilltop Viognier vineyard that we planted in the mid-eighties on well drained granite and loam soils. Naturally farmed and sustainably grown, this rich, dry medium bodied wine begins with inviting aromatics suggesting spring hibiscus blossoms, honeysuckle and vanilla spice. The wine has creamy mineral, slate-like textures, rich flavors with hints of ripe summer peaches, and a crisp, dry, lingering finish. It is barrel fermented in older barrels. An ideal complement to cracked Dungeness crab, grilled halibut or mahi-mahi in a beurre blanc sauce, sautéed scallops, and double or triple cream berries." Alcohol: 13.5% *Price and availability in store may vary. Vintage date may differ from pictured.
