Descended from the Knife that started it all. In 1897, Victorinox patented its second knife, the Officer’s Knife (the first was the Soldier’s Knife.) This knife was the first 91mm model from Victorinox and featured a corkscrew and a second, smaller blade. However, the Officer’s Knife was never actually included in a Swiss Military contract. It didn’t have to be. The functionality and design spoke for itself and is what many agree helped Victorinox to catapult into the public sphere. It exists today in the form of the Spartan, the often replicated, never quite duplicated pocket-knife with 12 tools in the palm of your hand. Its slim functionality makes it a great gift for yourself or someone else. At a little over a half-inch thick, it slides easily into pocket or purse without taking up excessive space and more than pays for itself in usefulness. While we’re fans of the entire line of swiss tools from Victorinox, I think everyone agrees that a daily carry can’t go wrong with a Spartan.
