One of the key characteristics of the Loblolly is that it is a diploxylon pine- with leaves that are stiffer and arranged in bundles of 2-3 needles. Those needles are what inspired these strips of metal that wrap around your wrist, starting out in a bundle on one end and coming back together in a cluster at the other.
