Place in a bright spot with indirect, natural light, such as near a window. Avoid direct sunlight, but you can slowly introduce the plant to it and check for signs of too much light. Red and patterned varieties need more light than green varieties. Water when about half the soil has dried out, usually every 7-10 days, and more frequently in brighter light or during the summer. You can use a moisture meter to help avoid overwatering. Don't let the soil dry out completely, as this can cause wilting and leaf drop. Some varieties are mildly toxic if ingested.
