Pre-Columbian Spiral

This wonderful spiral design was created by making a pressing in clay of a piece of pre-Columbian Mesoamerican pottery. This design would have originated in a region of the Americas that extend from Central Mexico through Northern Costa Rica during a time prior to the arrival of Christopher Columbus in the Americas (1492AD). The spiral in Mesoamerica was a very important symbol in nature as well as for religion.
