This is toy soldier 31360 - Confederate Infantry Reaching for Cap This 1/30 scale figure features a matte finish and depicts a Confederate infantryman reaching for his cap. The percussion cap, also known as a percussion primer, was first introduced in the early 1820s and is a single-use ignition device for muzzle loaded firearms with a caplock mechanism. The caps themselves are small brass or copper cups, about the size of a kernel of corn, filled with a shock-sensitive explosive. They were carried in a cap pouch attached to the rifleman's waist belt, with one flap securing the pouch shut and the other protecting the caps.
