The University of Texas Longhorn Band (or LHB) was founded in 1900. Envisioning marching bands as an inspiring addition to the turn of the century football season, the first director recruited 16 student and purchased $150 worth of instruments at a local pawn shop in downtown Austin. LHB, the largest organization on the UT campus today with nearly 350 participants, is considered the backbone of school pride. Description of the marching band set: This 13 piece set includes one drum major, one piccolo, one clarinet, one saxophone, one trumpet, one mellophone, one trombone, one marching baritone, one sousaphone, one snare drum, one bass drum, one cymbal and one tenor drum (six headed). All figures are a standard 1:32 scale or 54 millimeters tall (approximately two and a quarter inches), made of white metal, sculpted, cast, assembled and hand painted in England.
