Mukayu - Aquamarine Multi Gemstone Silver Necklace
A strand of wire wrapped Moss Aquamarines meets a row of hammered circle chain. The front part features teardrops of Prehnites, Grey Moonstone and Aquamarine. Sterling silver throughout. Measures 18 inches. Mukayu is a Japanese term, means the appreciation of nature just as it is. in 1982, Shinrin-Yoku or Forest Bathing, taking in the forest atmosphere was developed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Fisheries and has since become the cornerstone of preventive health care and healing in Japanese medicine. The citizens and workers are encouraged and given time off to forest bathe and reset regularly. This inspired me of time spent reflecting in the forest. The cool hues of the gemstones are reminiscent of river rocks, algae in the shallow streams of frigid waters. The silver is the reflective silvery light that is the result of the sky meeting the water. The wire wrapping on my designs is never pre-fabricated or purchased in bulk.
