How to slow down
12" x 18" acrylic on stretched raw canvas. Unframed. This piece is the last painting I made before an extended illness during the summer 2025. It was named in retrospect, with gratitude. This piece is part of my ongoing series, Pleasure is my mentor. When something feels good, I listen. Pleasure is my mentor. It has taught me everything I know: how to slow down, how to be hungry, how to adore, how to thrill and trust and open. Every time my body says, “yes,” I give back an encouraging nod and whisper: “yes.” As I am (re)learning to do this, my life is feeling different. I don’t have to be good, so now I get to be my self. I am typing this one-handed, eating an ice cream cone with the other. I am thinking about how I painted these pieces during spring storms and saw that it’s normal to thunder as we come back to life. Yes to the thunder. Yes to the body. Yes to what feels good, and yes to noticing it when it does. --- Taxes will be calculated at checkout. Shipping within the US is incl
