95 Points95 Points The Wine Independent: "The Ballentine 2021 Zinfandel Estate Grown, with 5% Petite Sirah and 2% Malbec in the blend, is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It rolls out with fragrant notes of baked black cherries, fruitcake, and raspberry preserves plus hints of Chinese five spice, rose oil, and black tea. The full-bodied palate delivers great tension and intensity, with lighly chewy tannins and a long perfumed finish." (Lisa Perrotti-Brown -April 2024).The Ballentine 2021 Zinfandel comes from the eastern-most side of the Pocai Vineyard. Here the rocky nature of the soil combined with the 40 plus year old vines work in harmony to increase the intensity of fruit from this vineyard. One of the warmest spots in the Napa Valley, this vineyard has no problems ripening, and produces high quality intense wines year after year. We consider this Bale Gravelly Loam soil to be our best fit for Zinfandel, and think you’ll agree.
