Chateau de Pez 2019 "2nd Pez" St. Estephe, Bordeaux
One of the best buys in Bordeaux we've found. Limited. "2ndPez" is an outstanding value second wine from Bordeaux's legendary Chateau de Pez. Don't miss! 90 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "The second wine of Château de Pez, the 2019 2nd Pez is impeccably made, offering lots of darker currant, black cherry, spice, and tobacco notes in its medium-bodied, supple, elegant profile. It's a solid second wine to enjoy over the coming decade."Founded in the 15th century, Pez is the oldest domaine in Saint-Estèphe. The Pontac family, then-owners of Château Haut-Brion, gave Pez its vineyards. The property remained in the hands of descendants until the French Revolution. Sold as a property of the state, the domaine belonged to a succession of families until 1995, when it was purchased by Champagne Louis Roedererer. Château de Pez is one of the oldest properties in Bordeaux’s Left Bank and consists of 118 continuous acres with 103 acres planted to prime grape varieties, mainly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
