The intricate detailing reveals the chief's adorned hair, braided and wrapped with strips of deer hide coated in a turquoise patina. A long feather gracefully extends from the back of his hair, also finished in a turquoise patina, adding an element of height and movement. The chief wears a bone breastplate, a significant chest ornament and armor that denoted the warrior's wealth. The number of hair-pipe bones in the plate was a symbol of the warrior's affluence, even though these decorative items were easily penetrated in battle by arrows or bullets.
