Armadillidium klugii 'Dubrovnik' (clown isopod) 12ct
This is a medium-sized species found along the Adriatic coasts of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Albania. They are known for their polychromatic appearance which has been suggested as Batesian mimicry, imitating the Mediterranean black widow, Latrodectus tredecimguttatus, which is found within their range. This cultivar originates from Dubrovnik, Croatia. It can have all-white, all-yellow, or yellow-and-white spotting on its dorsum. However, this cultivar displays increased red coloration, particularly at the intersection of the segments of the pereon. They are known for their prolific breeding and ease of cultivation. Like all Armadillidiidae, they can roll into a ball when disturbed. They prefer drier conditions and higher ventilation, much like other European Armadillidium species.
