It usually thrives in low ventilation and moist conditions, but excessive moisture with low ventilation can lead to higher mortality rates. This species is quite easy to culture and reproduces rapidly under favorable conditions. They are typically active and can be easily found within their enclosure as they tend to favor surface activity over burrowing. Like other Armadillidae, they can curl into a ball when disturbed.
