Porcellio aff. laevis 'milkback' (swift woodlouse) 12ct
Porcellio laevis is a large species native to Europe and North Africa but has been introduced globally from human activities and is considered a cosmopolitan species. This cultivar, widely circulated within the hobby under the Porcellio laevis species, is not likely to be Porcellio laevis. It is much more likely that they are an undescribed cryptic species derived from a North African or Middle Eastern population. Due to this, they are sexually incompatible with various other ‘laevis’ morphs within the hobby, such as P. laevis ‘orange.’ This species is a favorite within the hobby for its large size, attractive coloration, and ease of care. They are prolific breeders that tolerate a wide range of temperature and soil moisture conditions, though the adults prefer drier conditions or at least access to them.
