This is a medium-sized terrestrial tarantula native to the Pacific coast of the Mexican state of Guerrero, especially around Acapulco, where it inhabits tropical deciduous forests and savannah habitats. Like others in the genus, they are an easy-to-keep species that tends to have a forgiving, calm demeanor, making them an excellent beginner-friendly species. This species and the rest within the genus Tlitocatl were split from Brachypelma in 2020 based on molecular analysis and differences between the male and female genitalia, among other morphological differences.
