A hand decorated 6" tile with a coat of arms and the motto in Latin "ascendam virtute et veritate", translated to " I Shall Rise by Virtue and Truth". A great rule to live by. Made in the dry line wax resist, or cuerda seca method on a faience body. The back has the early impressed mark AETCO in the faience body. It remains in unused condition.
