Wheeling Seahorse Tile

This vintage tile was made at the Wheeling Tile Company (1913-1960) in Wheeling West Virginia. It displays an underwater scene with a seahorse within a glazed brown border. Decorated in a squeezebag technique the manufacture of these tiles was time consuming. This tile has an old cork backing so that tile tile could be used as a trivet. A few small flakes around the edges but in very good condition.
