2017 Dominique Lafon Vignes Franches Premier Cru, Beaune

The Premier Cru vineyard Vignes Franches is north of the Clos des Mouches, and is considered the most structured of his 1er wines. This wine is 100% Pinot Noir with aromas and flavors of blackberries and cherries, accompanied by heaps of potting soil, mushroom, pepper and fennel.  “15 barrels this year. Medium purple in color. There is a lovely weight of fruit, in quite a different style from his Volnays, with a slightly darker fruit. It is generous on the palate, with dark raspberry notes, and good length. Seamless tannins again."  Jasper Morris
