2020 Chateau de Cerons Coucher de Soleil Orange Wine, Bordeaux

A blend of Sauvignon Gris and Sauvignon Blanc made in the way you would a red with fermentation taking place on the skins for five weeks giving colour, structure, tannin and flavour. Produced by Chateau de Cérons in the often overlooked appellation of Cérons, that sits next to famous neighbour Barsac and near Sauternes, on gravel soils by the Garonne River this is the first vintage of Coucher de Soleil. Harvested at dawn on the 27th August 2020 to preserve freshness and all care taken in the winery to protect the aromas and minerality of the Cérons terroir. A nose of bright citrus with kumquat and tropical notes leading onto a full and soft palate with a ripeness and richness to the fruit, exotic spice, and light, grippy tannins. The finish is long and clean with a refreshing saline edge. Very accomplished new wine from this old estate.
