From 1904 Rhyolite was fixing to be what Vegas is now. After just 3 years that big panic of 1907 went down. Over copper if you can believe it. What a metal for a couple knuckleheads to tank a national economy over. Seems them finance types never learn.   Town was in decline longer than it was growing. That big mine closed in ‘11 tho not sure how they lasted that long. Bad as company towns were you have to wonder if it would have fared any better if it was one.   Now Rhyolite is full of ghosts & the art’s been populating it longer than the mine folk ever did.     A classic 90s fit.
