Order of Symon Petliura Petlyura Replica 1945

For participation in armed struggle for the Statehood of Ukraine under the supreme leadership of Chief Ataman Symon Petliura. History The idea of establishing an award in honor of the Head of the Directory and Chief Ataman of the UNR forces S. Petliura arose immediately after his death in 1926. The Society named after S. Petliura proposed to establish a new type of award - a ring to be awarded to all those who fought or worked in the state structures of the UNR under the leadership of S. Petliura. However, the idea of an award in honor of S. Petliura was implemented only in 1932 in the form of an order. Awards began in 1936. The basis for the cross shape is a somewhat simplified version of the unrealized Ukrainian Order of Liberation, the project of which was approved by the Head of the Directory S. Petliura on October 19, 1920. The author of the award project is the well-known heraldist and artist, Colonel of the UNR Army Mykola Bytynskyi (Nikolay Bitinskiy).
