Parosphromenus sp. cf. bintan (“Licorice Gourami – Bintan Form”) Parosphromenus sp. cf. bintan is an undescribed wild form of Licorice Gourami collected from peat-swamp habitats near the island of Bintan, Indonesia. The “cf.” indicates a population closely resembling Parosphromenus bintan but not yet scientifically described or confirmed as that species. Like others in the genus, it inhabits shallow, shaded forest streams and blackwater swamps rich in tannins and organic debris. Males display deep brown to blackish bodies with iridescent blue-green fin margins, while females are smaller and more subdued. These fish come from extremely soft, acidic water and are among the most delicate and specialized labyrinth fish in the hobby.
