Royal Village Original Painting

This 20 in x 40 original diptych painting is acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas. (There are 2 paintings fastened together.) This is one of the pieces from my newest body of work entitled Kings and Queens. It celebrates African Heritage and focuses on the importance of family and community. We come from a strong people. I used earth tones and patterns to express my interpretation of African prints. I also used different shades of skin to show how our Melanin has changed because of the movement to a new land. The people are all wearing crowns to show their royalty. I hope my art inspires communities of color while also reminding African Americans of their African origin descending from kings and queens.
