Moby Dick.  By Herman Melville.  xxxii, 822, [6] pp. With illustrations after Rockwell Kent woodcuts throughout.  Thick, square 8vo., bound in publisher’s illustrated cloth.  New York: Random House, 1930.  First Trade Edition.  A fine copy of this ‘handheld’ version of the famous Lake Side Press Edition.  Rockwell Kent’s art deco illustrations imbue Melville’s classic with a distinctly modern feel.   The cover of the trade edition, with its silver embossed cloth, is particularly appealing.  With much less rubbing to the silver than usual, just a bit on the spine.  Without the dust-jacket.  Previous owner’s name in ink on the half-title.
