Absolutely NO LIVE SHELLING is performed in the making of this or any other Captibel jewelry. All starfish are non-endangered and were purchased from a local shop on Sanibel Island, Florida, then cleaned, treated and clear-coated individually. As a result, they look delicate and are extremely lightweight but are also quite resilient. Since nature presents sizes and shapes at her whim, each starfish will vary slightly. The starfish measure approximately 1" and your earrings will measure approximately 1 3/4" from top to bottom. You may choose between: Argentium sterling silver, which is the most tarnish-resistant sterling silver on the market AND is also one hundred percent recycled silver (yay!); or 14kt gold fill, which will maintain its color exquisitely over time.
