Absolutely NO LIVE SHELLING is performed in the making of this or any other Captibel jewelry. All starfish are non-endangered, sustainably harvested and were purchased from a local shop on Sanibel Island, Florida, then cleaned, treated and clear-coated individually. As a result, they look delicate and are extremely lightweight but are also quite resilient. Since nature presents sizes and shapes at her whim, each starfish will vary slightly. The starfish measure approximately 1/2" to 3/4" and your earrings will measure approximately 3 1/4" from top to bottom. You may choose between: Argentium sterling silver, which is the most tarnish-resistant sterling silver on the market AND is also one hundred percent recycled silver (yay!); or 14kt gold fill, which will maintain its color exquisitely over time.
