A Carbide is a compound made up of Carbon and steel or other metal. This combining of Carbon to steel has been a part of metal forging for centuries, it is believed the presence of carbon is what made the Damascus swords of the past notorious for their strength and sharpness. Today we continue to combine carbon to steel to give it it’s strength and hardness…. The Cx-Carbide includes a stainless steel Damascus top cap(forged grades 304 and 316). Each top cap is individually machined, etched, hand sanded and polished to a high finish. The Damascus steel was custom forged in the USA by legendary jeweler and blacksmith, Chris Ploof. We pair the Damascus cap with our 316L “Web” base plate. This “Web” design allows us to use the minimal amount of material to achieve the strongest and lightest base plate. The handle is machined from 316L marine grade stainless steel. We are limiting the Cx-Carbide to 10 pieces. The contrast of the high polish 316L and Damascus cap is striking...this piece was
