 Great For Fence, wall or Back border- Very TallAn unusual color for Hollyhocks, the beautiful, 5 inch double blooms are a mix of pale rose and tan. Hardy to zone 4, Chamois Rose grows to 6 feet in full sun to part shade. In midsummer, tall, strong stalks are packed with lots of large, fully double, peach-colored blossoms which are sometimes tinged with raspberry-pink. They open from the bottom of the stalk up over a long period. The leaves are deeply lobed in classic alcea form.Feel free to grow hollyhocks under Black Walnut trees; they are tolerant of the toxic juglone that is emitted through the trees' roots. Hollyhocks are best treated as a biennial or short-lived perennial.Sow on to a moist seed sowing compost in a 144 cell plug tray or slightly larger unit if preferred.
