It has medicinal properties and can be easily grown from seeds. Seed Quantity: Oz.279,688 Sowing: Sow Greek Oregano seeds indoors 2 months before the last spring frost, planting them just below the soil surface. Maintain a temperature of 65-70 degrees F and ensure at least six hours of sunlight. Keep the soil moist when seedlings emerge, and transplant them once they are large enough or after the final frost, spacing them 12-15" apart. Oregano thrives in sunny, dry conditions. To sow directly, use Origanum Vulgare Hirtum seeds and thin out seedlings to 12-15" apart. As a companion plant, Greek oregano repels the harmful cabbage butterfly and can also be grown in a container. Growing: For optimal flavor, it is recommended to maintain minimal watering and refrain from fertilization when cultivating Greek oregano. To ensure the best taste, regularly prune the tops to prevent flowering and maintain tender leaves. Harvesting: Harvest the fresh leaves when the plant reaches a height of 6". The optimal time for harvesting is in the morning, after the dew has dried. Cut entire stalks at least 1" above the ground for new growth. Fresh leaves can be stored in the fridge for 5 days, or frozen/dried for extended use. Oregano should be added to food just before serving, as heat can diminish its flavor. Dried oregano tends to have a stronger flavor than fresh leaves, unlike other herbs.
