Among the Lupines

I had the extraordinary chance to study and sketch the brown bears in Lake Clark National Park, Alaska. I invested multiple hours observing this bear while it dug for clams and sipped from a stream, surrounded by lupine blossoms. At an up-close proximity, I was able to observe and draw multiple brown bears. This close examination and drawing of the bears gave me an insight into the complexity of their behavior and was the inspiration for the artwork Among the Lupines.
