On mature plants there is a characteristic hook-shaped appendage on the undersurface of the lid. The lower pitchers have wide, flared peristomes that range from orange, yellow or red with beautiful striping. Mature plants can vine up to 18' (5.6 m). It is quite good at catching large insects, such as: stink bugs, wasps and yellow jackets. It does well in a window and is a great house plant, that can be grown outdoors in the warm weather with a minimal transition period. It is a good as a houseplant or in the greenhouse.
