The traps are upright and of medium height. They are green at the base, but broad red veins dominate the tubes, giving the full trap an exciting, brightly colorful appearance. The hoods are broad and ruffled and the lip is thick and deep red. As cold weather approaches, the traps turn a suffused deep red or maroon. They grow divisions regularly, and form large full colonies. As with other S. leucophylla hybrids, it has a nice show of Spring pitchers, but a great show of vigorous Fall pitchers. S. x farnhamii prefers open, sunny, boggy conditions, and holds its color into the frost. The dark red flowers are fragrant, and bloom early in the Spring before new traps are fully emerged. This is an outstanding accent plant for the bog garden, and is very showy in large numbe
