It is a cross of S. leucophylla x purpurea purpurea, which is S. x mitchelliana. Traps show the burbandy red of "Purps" and the heavy windows of "Leucos". Like most "Purp" hybrids, traps last 2 years, showing nicely in the Winter. It is of moderate height and prefers open, sunny, boggy conditions. The dark red flowers are fragrant, and bloom in early Spring providing curious interest to the bog garden or terrarium. This color form is a naturally occurring hybrid. Plants are shipped bare-root, wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. In it's dormant season, it will be shipped as a dormant rhizome with trimmed off pitchers.
