Pippa
Pippa is the inaugural work in my Women Collection. I created the piece as a sculptural composition, focusing on material, form, and physical presence rather than image or narrative. The work began as a direct, hands-on exploration. I wanted to create a piece that could stand on its own without added detail—allowing abstraction and structure to carry the weight of the composition. Constructed on recycled cotton canvas, a soft, satin white ground is paired with three-dimensional plaster elements in natural beige tones. I focused on the way the light rakes across the raw seams and surface variations, giving the architectural forms a soft, internal glow. At scale, Pippa exists between painting and structure. Measuring 30 × 48 inches with an additional 8-inch overhang at the base, I intended for the piece to move beyond the wall surface, holding space as a tactile object rather than a flat image.
