Self Portrait 2023 - photogravure print - The Weekly Edition
Making self portraits is challenging. Many of my friends who regularly make meaningful work that include themselves already know this. For me I only do them occasionally and between these session I suffer a bit of amnesia. The challenge for me is making work that speaks to my state of being at the moment, works compositionally, and is honest enough to be important but not enough to be embarrassing. This hand-pulled photogravure print is made with Charbonnel Bistre, Noir 55981, and Sanguine inks on Hahnemühle copperplate paper. I printed an edition of 6 numbered prints and 2 A/P prints. Hand-pulled print by Ray Bidegain Limited edition of 6 6.25" x 8.0" inches on an 11 x 15.5" sheet. Signed numbered and titled by the artist on the lower front.
