With the Oaks - photogravure print - The Weekly Edition
As the model stood among the Oak trees and grasses I found myself thinking about a print made on the light and etherial Awagami Washi tissue from Japan. The pattern of the oak leaves cast by the sunlight and the subtile grasses felt dreamy to me and a perfect fit of the process I had in mind. I don't often plan the process before the picture but in this case the feel of the Washi was on my mind. If you are not familiar with this fine art printmaking paper by Awagami it is warm in color and slightly translucent, it has a slight texture. In one word it is " beautiful." This hand-pulled photogravure, print is made with Charbonnel Noir 55981 and Sanguine ink on Awagami Washi tissue paper. I printed an edition of 8 numbered prints and 2 A/P prints. Hand-pulled print by Ray Bidegain Limited edition of 8 4.75 x 6 inches on an 12x12 sheet. Signed numbered and dated by the artist on the lower front.
