About This Wine In 1984, Rita and Virgilio purchased Tua Rita, intending to use the land and buildings as a peaceful haven to work on and enjoy together. However, their love for wine ultimately transformed everything. The wine itself, a pure Merlot, takes its name from a nearby stream. When Rita and Virgilio set aside two barrels in 1994 from the first production, they could never have predicted that it would become an internationally renowned wine.
