Banfi Poggio all'Oro Brunello 2015

Origin:  “Poggio all’Oro,” translated as “Golden Knoll,” is a single vineyard, 820 feet above sea level, particularly noted for its favorable microclimate, on the southern slopes of Montalcino.  Winemaker's notes:  A sophisticated and intricate Brunello, showcasing a multifaceted essence that gradually unfolds in the nose, revealing notes of licorice, coffee, plum jam, tobacco, and a subtle hint of violet. The refined structure is impeccably balanced by the acidity, providing excellent support for the wine's long, lingering finish. This is a perfectly aged wine that pairs flawlessly with rich and complex dishes, and is also recommended as a accompaniment for moments of reflection. Score:  97 points, James Suckling.
