Lentil & Barley Soup Mix
Hearty soup whether you add meat or keep it vegetarian. Ready in 20 minutes or less! Just add broth, water, diced tomatoes, and cooked meat if you like. Additional ingredients needed: 4 c. broth, 1 c. water (or more depending on desired consistency), 1 14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes, undrained optional: 8 oz. smoked sausage links (sliced) or 1 # cooked ground meat Directions: Combine broth, water, tomatoes, and contents of bag in large pot. Stir, cover, and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook for 15–17 minutes until lentils and vegetables are tender, stirring periodically. Add cooked meat at end of cooking time until heated through. Ingredients: dehydrated lentils, pearled barley, vegetable flakes (carrots, celery, onion, tomato, red and green peppers, spinach), dried onion, dehydrated garlic, oregano, black pepper, red pepper flakes
