Lisbon - African Sokoto Goat
THE LEATHER: Sokoto goat skins are vegetable-tanned by hand in a small farming cooperative in Africa using only Begaruwa seeds from native Nilotica trees. The goats are farm-reared, and every part of the animal is utilized by the community. These skins, often considered byproducts, help support the local economy. The tanning process includes hand-twisting the skins, which naturally creates a beautiful, shrunken grain texture that is completely unique to each skin.
