He was born in Calle de la Palla, Spain, and did most of his work in Barcelona. He mostly did religious work. He came from a close-knit, pious, and creative family. His sister was a writer, Dolors Monserdà i Vidal, who was famous in her day. His style is mixed medievalism , orientalism, and neogothic.**
